ICON is proud to partner and work with local reporters in Nigeria. We are currently working to empower several reporters working with “Rural Watch News” but we are also working with other freelance journalists. Their work and efforts require an enormous responsibility and often their lives are at risk – to be attacked or persecuted.
Freedom of Expression Needs to be Protected
As Nigeria continues to suffer from an ongoing slaughter of innocent lives, we are fortunate to partner with these brave journalists and reporters as they provide solid research and reports. Recently, a freelance journalist, Luka Binniyat was arrested for his report on the genocide in Nigeria.
ICON is raising support for these journalists to help them courageously report. Since many are only registered with local associations, ICON was asked to help.
